点评:Our Regatta Ship docked at the Tokyo International Cruise Port, but as their shore excursions were overpriced and underwhelming, we decided instead to visit the city on our own. It was just a short 500m walk to the International Terminal Port station, so convenient. We took the Yurikanome Line 4 stops and got off @ Shimbashi Station so we could sightsee on the way to the Imperial Palace and gardens via Hibiya Park. An interesting walk hoping to see the Godzilla Statue….no unfortunately not, he was elusive! So, we continued on entering the gardens @ the south end and continued through these gardens until we could see the iconic palace. Then we took a right turn and headed to the Marunouchi Building to go up to the 35th floor Observation Deck for what I’d read has amazing views over Tokyo, maybe the elusive Mt Fuji and a view of Tokyo Station. Sadly, the plan didn’t work out as the observation deck seems to have been built out with a series of high end restaurants. So off to view the station @ ground level and to see the amazing ceilings! Another brick wall…. you can only enter the station if you have a suica card or similar!! More disappointment….so took some photos outside and off back to Shimbashi Station to retrace our steps back to the ship. All worth a look and good exercise too!
