BEWARE of overselling by Said (“Happy”)! Jackets are worth no more than MAD 2300!

点评：Beware of the tannery guides/handlers. We visited in August 2025 and were handed over to someone who identified himself as “Said” and “Happy.” He ended up selling us 2 no-label, off-the-rack leather jackets, one for a woman and one for a man. After haggling, the price was MAD 5,000 for the woman’s jacket and MAD 5,500 for the man’s jacket. In US dollars, that was $553 and $608!!! Afterwards, we looked up the price of jackets sold by the tannery and found that the label jackets sell for $150-$250, with $250 being reserved for jackets specifically tailored for an individual’s needs. To make things even worse, “Happy” asked for a “secret” tip for his generosity. Stupidly, we gave him personally another MAD 500 ($55). Admittedly, we were incredibly gullible and stupid. But let this be a cautionary tale for others who are similarly naive. The no-label jackets are probably there to be sold “off the books” (so they are not discovered by the tannery’s accountants as stolen). But more to the point, they are worth at most $150-$250 in US dollars (MAD 1350-2300). And Said (“Happy”) is a snake in the grass. If you encounter him, or anyone else there, Beware!! One final note, I tried reaching out to the tannery through their website to make things right but they would not respond to my queries.
