点评:A lovely 2 mile hike with a beautiful memorial to our 26th President Theodore Roosevelt. You can take the metro but we chose to drive and to park as there was plenty of parking at 9am.

The stroll through the woods across marsh areas and over wooden bridges was delightful. Clean, peaceful and green. It is hard to believe you are right next to the city. But then you can see or hear airplanes above but overall the peace of the birds and butterflies takes over. We saw many hikers and runners and realized many were hiking this twice to get in 4 miles. There is a biking trail near the entrance but we saw no one riding bikes on this trail.
There are concrete beautiful memorial bridges with fountains but they were all empty of water. A little water was left and it looked sad to me. I wish they had filled these or managed them better. There was a sign showing a restroom was being constructed so I imagine things are going to be even nicer when that is finished. I loved the giant concrete quotes by Roosevelt made you truly understand how nature impacted his life. It was truly special.
This is the kind of park you can run, hike, walk or push a stroller. We watched one young dad walking his dog and two young boys under 10. They were having a blast exploring and enjoying this treasure. I would like to believe this is exactly what the Roosevelts had hoped would happen one day. People would be enjoying this space and connecting with nature.
