Walk off win for the Padres in the 10th

点评：Over the years since 1998 I have previously seen the Padres 3 times but this was my first game at Petco Park. WOW. Daily highlights on YouTube back in Scotland are great but nothing can prepare you for that first sight of the stadium from the outside and then ascending up to your seat level and walking out into the "colosseum".
So many fascinating sights and sounds with every zone offering something a little different. Views across the San Diego skyline are fantastic enough and then there's the planes coming in to land at the nearby airport.
Our seats were overlooking the area between 3rd base and home plate.
Then there was the game!!! After a ropey top of the 2nd where 4 runs were conceded, the signs didn't look good. However an immediate turnaround meant that the Padres led 5-4 by the end of the 2nd.
However by the 7th inning stretch, Padres were again behind by 1. A tying run was scored in the bottom of the 7th. 8th and 9th remained scoreless so extra innings were required. Mason Miller did what he does and pitched a second scoreless innings at the top of the 10th. This resulted in Jackson Merrill starting on 2nd and Manny Machado up to bat.
Machado then proceeded to hit a walk-off RBI single on the first pitch of the bottom of the 10th inning, securing a dramatic 7-6 victory for the San Diego Padres over the Atlanta Braves.
Being at the game with my brother, 2 of his sons as well as the wife of one of my nephews (who I was meeting for the first time) means this night is a precious memory that I will never forget.
