Spicer Blueberry Picking Has Changed for the Worse

点评：I have been picking blueberries and shopping in the retail store at Spicer's for 20 years, at least. I am a local resident. Blueberry picking there has always been a highight of my summer. Each year I would pick berries weekly from the start of the season in mid-July until the end, typically late August. I have also brought my grandchildren there and other friends. The children have thoroughly enjoyed their children's play area.
Today was a different experience and totally unsatisfactory. I checked at the front counter to have my berry pail weighed and was informed about the new picking policy. Berries were going to cost $4/pound and there is a charge of $5 per person to pick berries, though the first person in a group would be free. I had a friend with me who would be charged. Last week I picked berries at a Tawas area farm for $1.90/pound and no extra picking fee. I explained to the clerk that I have been a long-time customer, and that my berry costs were much less a week ago at a different farm, but there was no reaction and minimal concern. My friend and I left without picking any berries.
If/when I return, I will only frequent their very nice winery. I do not attend for apple picking. I suspect they will have a similar policy for apple picking.
