Chalk Springs Trout Fishery的点评
点评：I’ve fished here on and off for nearly 30 years and when I first used to go the average bag usually contained at least one four or five pounder out of a then limit of 5 at an affordable price.
Times and owners change and there were a few years when the average stock size did drop to around 2lb.
Since the current owners took over I could not justify the day ticket cost (£17.50 a fish on a 4 fish ticket) compared to waters up country and therefore stopped going, depriving myself of a branch of the sport I love.
So today i gave it a go, in my mind I assumed the ticket price would reflect the size and quality of the fish. Well TBF the quality was fine but after a few laps of the lakes I spotted no sizeable trout, all more or less the same size. Now I’ve stalked at Abington, and Chalk Springs and usually am able to spot fish, I may have missed the odd 7 - 10lb Trout but it seems improbable that I’d miss any about 4-5lb if they were in the water in quantity given I spotted many that on catching were about 3lb.
In summary - yes I had a good morning, yes I caught 4 good looking fully finned 3lb trout but saw nothing bigger, yes the member of staff was pleasant, yes the coffee was a nice gesture, yes the banks were well maintained and toilet clean etc but this has put me off going again, I do not feel its value for money but I am aware all small trout fisheries in the South East are dearer (other that Hazel Copse), so sadly it’s back to coarse fish and occasional trout trips when around Northamptonshire.
That’s my ten penny worth, too poor to Trout fish Sussex and Hampshire!!
