点评:Spanish markets are often amazing palaces of gourmet delights, which you can wander around sipping a glass of cava, in my experience, such as the Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid. However this was a much more down to earth experience. It is more for fresh produce. And therefore smelling strongly of fish.
Open 7-3pm. Built between 1914 and 1917. It is a lovely building, but it is currently being restored, the upper floor is a building site and so out of bounds, and the ground floor is ugly inside, with fluorescent lights.
Anyone looking for delights akin to Mercado de San Miguel etc will be disappointed currently. There are a few tiny bars, and we had a couple of very reasonably priced little bottles of ice cold Estrella de Levante while standing, which was the highlight of the experience. I would love to come back one day, when it has been restored.
