点评:I want to start with the good points, because there were plenty.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival and the smell was divine, they use Neom and I love this brand. We were given a welcome drink and asked to fill in paper work.
We were then shown to our room, which was clean, and the decor was a classic design but fresh. And then I was shown around the facilities and given times for the dinner and breakfast. I agree with our guests that the bathroom facilities aren't designed for tall people. My husband couldn't for in the bath. But was happy to shower.
The facilities are lovely, and my husband and I found the staff extremely pleasant. I asked for extra body wash and they gave me plenty. I asked for larger robes, again no problem.
We had the pleasure of having the private jacuzzi for 45 minutes, this was complementary with the room we had booked. This was a lovely experience and a member of staff came and took our drinks order while we were resting in there, the service was again was fast and efficient.
The staff are very hard working. And the venue is lovely. The Deli staff were extremely attentive.
The restaurant was pleasant, small portions, but tasted lovely and the atmosphere was relaxing, facing a the lake with stunning views.
Neom diffusers are situated throughout the buildings and the aroma was lovely and staff mist the corridors every hour to maintain the ambience.
So as you can see there are a lot of positives to the review.
Here is my negative experience: I own an electric car and travelled a 1.5hrs to get to Moddershall Oaks. I need to charge the car to get home.
The Spa Night was booked for my husband's 45th birthday. So it was a special occasion for us. I paid a lot, (in my opinion) with the room upgrade I paid nearly £600, +extras for drinks. £600 for a SINGLE night, with 2 treatments for us both and us of the facilities. Please see attached photo.
I could have booked a cheap budget holiday to Spain and had change from £600.
Around the time I made the booking, I asked if there was car charging facilities and I was informed there wasn't, but there was a outdoor socket I could use if I need too. When we arrived, I found the socket and plugged the car in to charger, so we had charge for our return trip home. The charger I used was a slow charger and would take 18 hours to charge to a full charge. I was using 1.2kwh of electricity - as displayed on my car app. Just to give you an idea of how much electricity that is, a kettle can pull 1.1kwh and dishwasher/washing machine can pull 1.5kwh.
At some point during the stay, I checked the app and my car wasn't charging, so I went to check on the car and my charger was unplugged and thrown on the grass. Again I plugged it in and charged the car, I presuming another guest had unplugged the car.
Later on again, the car wasn't charging so again I plugged the car back in. Confused why it was being disconnected.
We went to dinner at 9 and when we finished eating at 9.30, and again the car was unplugged, so I approached the ladies on reception and was informed that Kirsty the reception manager was unplugging the car.
I waited and had a calm conversation with her, asking why the car was being unplugged and she said that 'they' didn't know who's car it was, and that I should have asked permission. Itc would have been obvious that the car belonged to a guest.
She said that the socket wasn't geared up to charge an electric car. But now I've spoken to her, she has messaged the maintenance man, and informed him to leave the car plugged in. This was 10.10pm.
As I was walking back to the car to plug it in again, and saw the maintenance person, I had a calm conversation with him also about unplugging my car, who informed me I was 'stealing' the electricity.
I compared plugging my car in, to guests plugging in phone chargers and hair straighteners. When I've paid so much to stay overnight, why is this even an issue?
I asked the maintenance person if I could speak to whomever was instructing the staff to unplug my car.
This was extremely late by this point, around 10.30pm and I was grateful that the owner/manager was willing to talk to me at such a late hour.
The manager spoke and started the conversation off by saying "the way I've conducted my myself was disgraceful" - which I found offensive. I was not rude or aggressive to any of the staff.
He wasn't happy that I didn't seek permission before I charged the car. While I agree maybe I could have spoken to staff and informed them about my phone call around the when I booked, I didn't think it was necessary at the time. Had I have known it was going to cause drama, of course I would have done.
(Remember my phone call around the time I booked, I was told there was a socket I could use. How else would I know where to go?)
The manager kindly let me charge the car up after a discussion. But this experience was not pleasant, it was extremely late at night and I felt that this situation was a witch hunt, everyone was unplugging my charger and one member of staff accused me of 'stealing the electricity'.
I paid just under £600 for a single nights stay and given that I travelled a 3 hour round trip, this could have been handled much better. It definitely could have been handled by duty manager rather than the owner of the establishment. I'm sorry it caused the amount of drama it did.
Our relaxing spa overnight stay was stressful to myself, and resulted in myself not sleeping until 3am. Which had the opposite affect of feeling relaxed. The next day my husband and I both just wanted to leave. We had our 2nd treatment and left straight after.
We won't be returning unfortunately. Our trip has been tarnished.
I think Moddershall Oaks are missing trade from people like myself because
they don't have Electric Car Charger's to allow people with electrics cars to visit.
