点评：In the 1970s I used to come here with my dad, with model sailing boats. I hadn't been since summer 1979 when we were hounded away by the conductors of remote controlled motorboats who didn't like model sailing boats.
Decided to come over from Luton by bus to see the place again. Firstly it's quite feasible from St Albans station on the bus. The stop is right outside the park entrance. Walking around the North lake, I recognised several specific spots from the 1970s. Though there have been changes and improvements including more reeds for the water birds. For the first time ever I took the bridge under the road to the South lake. You'll have to duck for the first few metres (North to South) but there's a nice cafe and viewing area where you can watch people sailing. I enjoyed a cup of tea and some reflection on times past.
Looks like a lovely place to enjoy a walk around either lake with nature walks signposted from the North end. Lots of ducks, coots, swans and geese. Staff at the cafe were pleasant, and there are toilets on both sides. There's a kids' playground and splash park beside the North lake too.
