Ales Of The Unexpected的点评
点评：Dropped in for a quick pint and stayed for 4, because it was so friendly and sociable in this micropub.
It's a narrow, classic micro, with a short bar at the inward end. I sat about one table back from the bar but was instantly drawn into the conversations that were bouncing around that lively area of the pub.
Various characters came and went and joined in. Some with dogs. I felt very included and entertained.
The wiry, hoarse-voiced landlord from St Albans deserved a lot of credit for the vibe. He said he doesn't follow all the unwritten micropub rules. For example, he had a playlist of retro music going softly in the background. That could annoy the purist, but I sang along happily to "Where Did Our Love Go?" And the various old cameras dangling from the ceiling were, I guess, a comment on CAMRA.
The drink was well kept. I remember a dark bitter called Knight's Ale from Canterbury Ales. No shortage of ale puns in Ales of the Unexpected.
The bar is out of the town centre, but don't miss it of you like micropubs. It's a thriving part of Margate's epic micropub scene.
