点评:We had three days exploring the Yosemite national Park. What a fabulous place!
For someone who is not a fan of heights, it was quite a challenge but I am so glad that I visited.
We were pleased that we didn’t need to be in the park over the summer season as it does get very busy. By the time we got there in October things had quietened down a little during the week (no booking necessary), although the weekends were still busy and a booking was essential in advance.
The park had just had a big tidy up and there wasn’t a piece of litter anywhere, impressive when there are 3.9 million visitors every year.
The views are amazing and traffic is on a one way system in the valley to alleviate the traffic. Having a limited number of visitors per day has to be the way forward as it then helps to minimise the impact on this delicate area. Sadly there was not a huge amount of water at the time and the river and falls were not running much. Maybe another trip is required to see it in full flow.
We joined a talk by Eric Nelson, one of the park rangers who made a one hour (free) talk turn into an amazing, two hour talk and walk which was so informative. The enthusiasm and passion he showed for this beautiful place was a credit to the park. Give this man a pay rise. If I lived nearer, I would be volunteering.
Let’s hope that the powers that be allow the park to be maintained the way it was intended and had been cared for by the indigenous people without too much interference.
Would highly recommend a visit.
