点评:Nice open picnic area overlooking the water, but difficult to walk down the rather steep path to get there, especially for older folks. Even the beach was tedious to traverse, with numerous roll-y pebbles & rocks, sprawling heaps of driftwood logs, & rutted, narrow trails paralleling the shoreline. Definitely NOT a handicap-accessible beach walk!
If you persevere, and make it farther down the trail, alongside a marsh area – you may see a sleepy bumblebee curled in the soft bed of a purple Bull Thistle, or be amazed to see terrestrial orchids in bloom with their tiny spirals of white flowers. Walking here is better, with packed sand, and there are beautiful bouquets of sunshine-yellow Gumweed flowers!
We saw children enjoying the beach, carrying armloads of the pebbles, & watching the crashing waves sparkle in the sunlight. Beach views of distant mountains were muted, so we weren’t impressed with “great views” – especially compared to other island sites.
This park was uncrowded, although frequented by dog-walkers – most of whom ignored the dog on leash signs. Parking is free. Discover passes (with an on-site kiosk to purchase a day or yearly pass) is required, & must be displayed in your car front window.
I’m glad we visited, but would not return again.
