点评:We have been to St Mellion before, many times, stayed at the hotel, but couldn't put up with the squeaky floorboards anymore and decided to try a cottage. We'd done two previous successful visits and wanted to do it again.
Firstly, £480 for three nights in a four-berth chalet was a bit expensive. We had four nights for that price on our last visit.
Secondly, on arrival, there was no welcome information on this visit. No tea, coffee, milk sachets etc like there had been before. Luckily I had brought stuff with me, but it would have been guaranteed in the hotel room.
On checking the cabin rooms, both beds and furniture had cobwebs on them. Obviously it had not been used for some time and housekeeping couldn't be bothered to give the property a once-over before it was due to be occupied.
On the first morning, we managed to have showers, no problem. The main bathroom shower cubicle is not exactly big enough for a comfortable shower and getting in and out meant the floor got wet. My daughter ended up using the ensuite one.
On the second evening, my husband went to shower after playing golf and there was no hot water, not even in the sink or basins. It was just gone 5pm and reception advised me that the maintenance staff had left for the day. I would have to wait until the morning for it to be looked at.
Third morning, unable to get a shower. The workman arrived and decided the water pump needed a new fuse, which he didn't carry on him, so had to go and get one. We had to leave the cabin to go out and trust the workman whenever he returned as he had been gone ages.
Third evening, there was lots of rain, but the front door leaked and the hallway was one huge puddle. If you had gone to the bathroom barefoot, you would have had wet feet and been paddling.
Fourth morning, I would say I was happy to be leaving and that it wasn't a good break with the issues. I mentioned it to reception and it was just "noted", nothing acknowledged.
Doing the emailed survey and advising of the issues hasn't created a reaction from the company. This is very disheartening. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and will advise others to avoid the property until it is upgraded.
