Hidden Pearl – worth discovering even if you don’t speak German

点评：This heritage steam train ride is a hidden pearl in the Dresden area. Surprisingly, very few international tourists seem to know about it — perhaps because the information online seems to be only in German, and the train staff speak German only. But don’t let that stop you!
We took the train from Radebeul Ost to Moritzburg, and it was a delightful experience. Tickets can be bought directly from the conductor who stands on the platform at Radebeul Ost before departure. On a sunny day, I recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early to secure a good seat, especially if you want to sit by the window or in one of the open-air sections.
If you’re planning a day trip from Dresden, I highly recommend taking the steam train from Radebeul Ost to Moritzburg, then visiting the Moritzburg Castle — this is exactly what we did, and it makes a perfect half-day trip. If you’d like to extend your day, you can continue in the afternoon to nearby Schloss Wackerbarth for a wine or sparkling wine tour.
