点评：We went here mainly because of the connection with Classical Era composer Thomas Linley, Jr. He drowned in Grimsthorpe’s lake tragically. It was by guided tour, so when our tour guide, Rue, asked if there were any questions, I immediately asked about Linley. She knew exactly what I was talking about but told me there were no artifacts of him in the house, but that this was indeed the home of one of his benefactors, that he did visit here, and that he did die here. The house was grand. I really enjoyed the main entry hall with its modern furniture amongst the old, and the stones of the floor were made of two different types of stone so the softer ones had worn down and the harder ones stuck out of the floor by at least a ¼ inch.
After the house tour, we walked down to the lake and appreciated the beauty and sadness of the lake. Then we walked around the grounds which had numerous artworks including a labyrinth! I was so pleased at discovering this unexpected labyrinth.
