点评:We visit occasionally for a wander along from the car pork at Normanton church to the dam. A nice flat easy walk (wheelchair friendly).
On this occasion I had missed the turn from the main road so we decided to carry on to another one - we ended up at Barnsdale. Which was deserted other than 2 cars, the kiosk was closed, but fortunately the loos were open. We didn't stop here has it seemed access to the shore was down steep inclines and that meant we would have to climb back up to the car.
So we backtracked and ended up at Normanton again. There were very few people about or cars in the car park (it was Tuesday of bank holiday week we expected more). The cafe was open.
The water levels have dipped considerably and we started our walk along the shore over land that would normally be under water. The Rutland Belle was still operating if you wanted a trip on it.
Parking is £2 per hour, there is a machine to pay at the end of your visit so you don't have to estimate the time on arrival.
