点评：I grew up in Methana, and I have visited the volcano many times — but I always return to it with new eyes. It is one of those places that feels different every time, depending on the light and the season. The Methana Volcano is one of the most unique volcanic landscapes in Greece. The peninsula has around 32 volcanic centres, and the volcano near Kameni Chora is part of this rare geological identity. What makes the experience even more special is that you walk on a landscape that was literally transformed by lava. The historic lava dome of Kameno Vouno was formed in antiquity, and its lava flow reached the sea, extending about 500 metres beyond the coastline. Knowing this makes the walk feel more meaningful: you are stepping on land that once moved, burned and reshaped itself.
The colours are beautiful, with a striking contrast between the dark volcanic rocks, the red and earthy tones, the green pine trees and the blue sea. The view is definitely worth the climb. From the top, the landscape opens up beautifully; across the sea, you can see Agistri, and the view over the Saronic Gulf is very rewarding. It is not a difficult hike, but you should be prepared. During the summer months, it is better to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the heat is softer. The path is rocky, so proper hiking shoes make a real difference. With the right shoes, you stop worrying about the route and simply enjoy the experience.

The smell of the volcanic stone, the silence of the landscape and the raw texture of the rocks give the visit a special, almost initiation-like quality.
