点评:Most avid golfers come to the Liverpool area to play the three Open venues hear, but there are other hidden games of which Wallasey is definitely one. It has a great history starting with the original design by Old Tom Morris. In 1930 Bobby Jones played a qualifying round here and became an ardent fane. The club commissioned the famous portrait of him that you see in the Masters clubhouse. However the original one signed by Jones is in the clubhouse at Wallasey. As is the portrait of Dr. Frank Stableford who invented the scoring system named after him and was a member here.
The course winds its way through a series of coastal dunes with some truly great holes such as 4, 9, 11, 12, 17 and 18. It is in magnificent condition with immaculate greens. It is a true links course so expect wind and for the course to play much longer than its stated yardage because of the many holes into the wind. Because you cross uip and down the dunes a number of times its a more difficult walk than many links courses.
One of the nicest things about Wallasey is the unpretentiousness of the place compared to many other links courses. The people are very welcoming and the price to play considerably less than better known courses. I would make this a must play when you are planning a Liverpool golf trip.
