点评:There is a small carpark at the entrance.
10 Euro entry or 5 Euro for EU citizens.
Toilets available near entrance though we did not use them so condition unknown.
Grounds poorly kept, some areas inaccessible. Church empty of contents but nicely renovated. Small museum next door, Pasha building, with underwater antiquities very friendly staff and well presented.
The Evdemos bastion path was overgrown and advised not to attempt getting there.
Next stop the acropolis, the inner fortification, built around 1573, in pretty good condition and able to walk around the parapets though not all the way around or you have to double back, go down stairs to get back to exit. Old prison cells not open to visitors which is a shame.
Next stop the next underwater antiquities museum, a small museum which was about sunken villages off the Peloponnese coast. I asked about where was the described 'digital representation of the Navorone naval battle as projected contributing to the formation of a multipurpose archaeological site that offers the vistor a tour of the area through history' but sadly this was no longer available.
Finally the last and biggest museum of underwater antiquities near the entrance. The staff here were obviously bored with their job and rather officious. We did not stay long and left early driven out by their over zealous nature.
All in all worth the 10 Euros but it is sad to see the venue so poorly maintained. Very few visitors when you would have expected it to be fairly busy in early May.
I would not go again but Google search of Naval battle of Navarone in 1827 was very enlightening of past history.
This castle has great potential if properly managed with facilities like a cafe, shop and cut the grass and generally maintain in good order. I would not go again.
Health and safety precautions totally absent, high drops off parapet of acropolis completely unprotected.
