点评:Our visit to Minister’s Island was one of the highlights of our trip! It takes a bit of planning — you have to visit during low tide, as the only road to the island is actually the ocean floor. We bought our passes online the day before and timed it just right. Some people were walking across, but I wouldn’t recommend it — the island is much bigger than it seems, and you really need a car to explore it fully.
We started with the barn and were truly impressed by how well cared for everything was. You could feel the dedication of the people maintaining the place and taking care of the animals — it felt alive with history and heart.
The highlight, without a doubt, was the main house. It’s like stepping into the early 1900s — beautifully preserved with fully set tables, decorated bedrooms, and details that made it feel like Sir William Van Horne had just stepped out. We had no idea how much he contributed to Canada’s history — a true visionary who helped build the Canadian Pacific Railway, and also an artist and engineer.
We spent about 3.5 hours exploring and honestly could’ve stayed longer, but the tide waits for no one! We had to head back before the road disappeared under water again.
Definitely worth the visit — just make sure to plan ahead and arrive early.
