点评:It's absolutely fascinating that the island has to change opening hours each day due to the tides. We were lucky enough to be there when the tide opening was 8:30am - 12:30pm, so we were able to be at the entrance early in the morning to see the tide going out. You definitely need a car to get to the two main attractions, the barn and the house. Both were fascinating, but the barn was really amazing given how advanced the Van Horne estate was in livestock breeding and all kinds of animal husbandry. We spent a long time in the barn because it was so big and there was so much information. The docents at the house give an introduction and then you can wander on your own. There are signs in the rooms with lots of information about the family and plenty of staff to answer questions. We had no idea how influential and entrepreneurial Van Horne was, but he really worked hard to open Canada to tourism and business. The walk down to the boathouse is a must - the bathhouse is a wonderful tower structure with changing rooms and a spiral staircase down to the remains of the pool and the ocean floor. Great views of the Passamaquoddy Bay, too. We purchased our tickets online a couple days before because we didn't know how crowded it would be and we knew our schedule. When you check in on the island, they give you a number card that you must turn in when you leave so they can make sure everyone gets off the island before the tide comes in. What an unusual and truly interesting place to visit.
