Dirty windows make it impossible to see anything. This is not World Heritage

点评：Because they claimed that all 1st class seats were taken, our travel agent had booked us 2nd class.
I really do not recommend 2nd class . It was packed, which would have been OK , but the windows were dirty and completely opaque. They only open three inches in this class so impossible to see anything. You see as much on the London Underground.
I told our guide that we wanted to get off at the next stop as it was pointless continuing when we could not see anything. He talked to the ticket collector and we got upgraded at the next stop. The 1st class carriage was still very dirty, and the windows opaque, but they opened much more and we could see out. And there was much more leg room
All in all this is not a UNESO World Heritage venue. It is a working train that takes Shimla locals from the town to the plain. I had been expecting more from their PR output
The engineering of the track is unbelievable , and if you manage to see them, the views are amazing.
But knowing what I know now, I would not have taken this ride. It is overhyped and oversold
