点评:I am not a hiker, just a guy in his late 30s that visits the gym couple times a week - but whenever a nice hike is available on an island I travel to I try to give it a shot - I love the fact I did here but I must admit it exceeded my expectations on how difficult it was;
1. The start is marked on Google Maps - next to an area with a Coca Cola awning (there are 2 on the island, not to confuse simply follow Google Maps) - there is a wall where everyone leaves their bicycles - the family across from it was super nice about it and showed me what to do when I have arrived - around 8AM it was just my bike and 2 more, a few hours later it was closer to 30-40 :)
2. First thing first, it's very well marked on the way up (after I while I stopped taking pictures as it's pretty much impossible to get lost on the way up, despite some people in the hike telling me so) - there are either red flags, or tape or painted arrows and sometimes even X marks vs Y on which part to take vs not to take - that is on the way up... on the way down not so much as everything is usually well seen on one side of the trees/branches that you don't see as well coming from the higher ground - so I did sidetrack on the way down, and simply continued the descend and made it to the street in a different spot, I followed some other guys in front of me who also got "lost" and as I have later spoken with another girl I met up the peak she said she got out somewhere else as well - so that makes 3 different people/groups not returning the same way they arrived originally - no need to panic, there are not cliffs/edges just a very steep downhill dirt/branches/stones - I have simply followed then the actual road to where my bicycles was parked
3. The ropes... people said some things here that got me, especially my wife, super concerned about the ropes - I think the ropes were amazing, there are 3 areas where you have them - first one is super simple and it was nice to use your upper body to go up for a change after my legs were begging for a break :) this one you dont even have to use really. Second set is right before the first vista peak (the one with the t shirt on my pictures) - it's useful here on the way up, more a must on the way down. Third and final set is right before the actual peak of the hike - this one is impossible really without ropes, especially on the way down - it's brilliant that they are there, i am about 230-240 lbs (105kg more or less) guy and I felt comfortable and actually enjoyed them. This is for adults only, as there are areas where you simply need to be very decisive and responsible as otherwise you will hurt yourself - just when I was thinking of that I bumped into a father with his daughter on the hike, and as much as I was impressed she made it that far I was thinking that the final stage is just a big no go - there is a moment that there is no way one person help the other, it's all on you and I would never let a child do that with all sharp edges/rocks and height - you can really hurt yourself if you aren't responsible here - there is a lot of rocks grabbing/pulling with hands (I took off my wedding band after a while so leave your jewelry behnd).
4. I have a fear of heights and was perfectly fine, both going up and down, and being on the top - I don't think there is really an area one can fall of an edge except maybe at the very top but still so much room in there that you would have to be super irresponsible to fall
5. WATER! Someone said 1L per person... I took 1.5L and could have easily used more and it was in the first week of November and 8AM - it took me about 1h to 1.5h on the way up with more stops on the way, some for pictures and couple vista points, but later on simply to rest for a moment - it's a verrrrrrrrrrrry steeeeeeep and exhausting hike!
6. On your way down... I actually fell 3 times and cut my elbow/bruised up my hands and it was all on the way down - part of it was because I should have slowed down and when I sidetracked I was not looking under my feet as much as I should vs. seeking trail markings, but also because it's sooooooo steep and you literally slide - I did it on a dry day, absolute DO NOT go when it rained or it is raining - you will not complete it and endanger your life
There are 2 big stop - one is with the t shirt on my picture, and that one is nice and I thought I got it... then I looked up and saw that the REAL peak is still further up and that one is just a dream come true - once there you don't want to leave, this was one of the most challenging physical things I have done ever but it was "soul cleansing" and something I will cherish for the rest of my life!
Arrive prepared, go early to avoid "crowds" - on my way up I met a group of 4 returning already, at the top/closer to the top another 5 - on my way down I have easily passed 30 people or more, all of them will need to use the rose at the choke points and also hit the vista stop - that's a lot of people for not too much of the room, and foremost baking in the sun during the hike later in the day is something I would highly discourage you from.
Do it, you won't regret it, dont give up, let the endorphins carry you! :)
翻译:我不是徒步旅行者,只是一个 30 多岁的男人,每周去健身房几次 - 但每当我去的岛上有不错的徒步旅行时,我都会尝试一下 - 我喜欢我在这里所做的一切,但我必须承认,它的难度超出了我的预期;
