点评:At the time we visited Jublains, the fortified site next to the museum was closed for renovations. It could still be seen externally, the area just couldn't be entered. We were given a map to explore the various archaeological features dotted around the village during the museum's closure at lunchtime and had a nice walk around. Unfortunately, apart from the bath suite beneath the church and the amphitheatre, which was well impressive, the remains were more conjectural than real. I expect a great deal more exists beneath the ground. There were signs of an excavation awaiting summer diggers. The museum was very good. All the usual artefacts of Gallo-Roman life were there, as well as a few unique pieces. You can picnic beside the museum, and if you're in need of fresh baguettes, there's a vending machine opposite the church when the bakery is closed for lunch. The only thing we found disconcerting was that, upon our arrival, the first thing we saw was a man on a ride-on lawnmower scything all the lovely daisies in the grass around the monument. He used all that fossil fuel to cut a mere centimetre's growth off the top! It was peak springtime. They should allow the grass to grow a little longer to encourage biodiversity. It didn't need to be so tidy. I'm sure it wasnt during Roman times!
