NB Golden Sunrise: Whixall to Llangollen and back

点评：Have to admit to being a bit nervous at the start of the week (I hadn't done this before, partner had but a while ago), but the handover we got was comprehensive without being an information overload and the bloke doing it came with us as as far as the lift bridges to check we'd got the hang of things.
Can't fault Anglo-Welsh for being helpful - we managed to knacker the steering (our fault, we reversed hard when we probably shouldn't have), and the mechanic turned up amazingly quickly, especially when you consider how far he had to walk from the nearest road access. We rocked up at the AW base at Trevor on an already busy day and asked for water and a pump-out (not sure it needed doing, but we don't have the experience to tell) and they got to us within a few minutes despite being up to here in boats already.
The journey itself was well worth doing - the Pontcysyllte aqueduct is rightly famous, but the Chirk aqueduct and neighbouring tunnel are also well worth visiting. We also fitted in side trips to the end of the Montgomery Canal (the restoration works at the far end were interesting), and into Whitchurch. All good fun, and would happily hire from AW again.
