点评:It was a complete surprise to me how wonderful Ekerbergparken was. Some years back I played as a team called KFUM Oslo in Football Manager. Now, travelling the world, I like to try and visit the teams I played in my many years in that game. That led me to see Ekerbergparken on the map when planning my Oslo trip. I decided to head there, not realising that it's actually rather hilly! Not that that matters to me. It keeps me fit.
I was following a blog itinerary during my days in Oslo. That blog started with Sorenga but I decided to start in Ekerbergparken. It was also because I saw some Fairy Lights exhibit on Google maps and I wanted to see what that was. I climbed to the top via a very informative trail that showed where the sea level was over the past 10k years. I enjoyed that, and the challenge of the climb. I'm not as young as I was!
What I found at the top was far from what I'd really expected. The park is a mix of woodland and open areas and what turned out to be a lot of statues and art pieces. There is also the not so small fact that you get amazing views of Oslo Fjord from the top.
I'm not really what I'd call a huge fan of modern art, but it was hard not to like the exhibits I saw. I found myself seeking out as many as I could, with the help of Google maps. There is also an area of preserved prehistoric sites.
The Fairy Lights exhibit was excellent. It turned out to be a lights display in amongst the trees with relaxing music playing. I love attractions like that, having been as impressed with the fountains on Margaret Island in Budapest and the lights display in Brussels' Atomium a couple of years ago.
Ekerbergparken is a lovely outdoor area for families or friends, or even just yourself. The views of Oslo Fjord really are spectacular.
I never did get to KFUM's stadium though. It was a little further than I thought. Pretty sure it's just a stadium though, so nevermind. Still very glad I chose to start my day at Ekerbergparken.
