点评：Go to Badwater Basin first. Then, afterwards embark on your nine mile journey through Artist's Drive which is a one-way only road. Know and understand beforehand that you will not be able to traverse this scenic drive with your recreational vehicle (RV) or trailer exceeding 25 ft. Bring lots of water and a wide-brimmed hat for your protection and possibly survival. If you have less than half a tank of gas in your vehicle and you decide to make this drive, you are not thinking clearly and are ill-prepared. If a vehicle is driving too close to you because they are in a hurry for life or racing off to go see the next site, safely pull over and let them pass. Take your time to really enjoy this area. Allow 1 hour to explore.
I stopped at the first pullover. There was a pretty steep hill that left me gasping for breath especially in the 100 degrees afternoon sun. When I reached the top, the surrounding vistas looked like what I imagine Mars to look like. I could even see the salt flats from Badwater Basin off in the distance, but don't be mistaken. This is not a beautiful place to spend a lot of time. Again, think Mars.
Wondering where the main attraction is, Artists Palette? Keep driving until there is a paved road in which a sharp right can be taken. Take this and it will lead to a small parking lot with a restroom and NP wayside exhibit placard. The beauty can be taken in from the parking lot or by accessing the trails and paths just ahead for a closer view and different perspective.
