1. Expensive 150K ticket (for foreign adult) which includes sarong, shuttle bus, and compulsory local tour guide
2. Shuttle bus only covers a mild 700 metres uphill and still need to climb upstairs after arrival of the entrance
3. Local tour guide is only available in English and the tour guide is not fluent in English. Minimal information provided only.
4. In conclusion, they ask you to pay extra for unnecessary things
5. You will get asked to purchase a flower basket for blessing immediately (despite it is not necessary)
6. Only the peripheries can be visited; the central part is forbidden (except praying), the walk can be completed in 30 minutes even if you walk slowly
7. The temple is not well maintained and the temple dogs are not taken care of with skin diseases and skinniess
8. When you walk along the path children will try to sell you postcards and will scold you if you refuse
9. The biggest scam I suffered from is the “photography package” in front of the big Candi Bentar. Our team initially agreed for only 1 set of picture with 30K. However, he held my phone after the group photos and insisted us to do solo pictures. Afterwards the “photographer” charged us 120K for the 4 “sets”. I.e. 30K only with 7 photos with a “reflection” by a glass paper. With you own phone. The photos aren’t even good quality with rotated pictures.
