点评:Highest temple in Bali and the mother temple. It’s quite a drive up from ubud but a beautiful one, especially if you go on the road around the rim looking down on lake Batur.
I was a bit blown away when we arrived and there is an enormous multi storey carpark and welcome centre! That was all built a few years ago.
You pay the 150K IDR tourist fee for a sarong, shuttle bus up, entry and guide. We had a great guide for our family. Spoke good English, was funny and interesting.
The temple complex is huge and the village is set amongst it. We really liked it. The temples are made from the black volcanic ash.
The views looking down over Bali are also amazing and it is built on the slopes of mt agung which you can see behind it. We had a great view of agung just before it clouded over and the rain came.
It probably takes an hour or so to wander around the temples with the guide. There are various shops set amongst the temples selling gifts and food/drink.
You then walk the 1km back to the car park/centre past all the shops. Lots more sarong sellers.
We got soaked as it rained but it’s a nice walk down.
