Fantastically strange, worth the trip

点评：Came across this gem here, seeing others' experiences and photos. We decided it would be much more interesting than the typical tourist attractions during our port visit to Amber Cove. We had prearranged a guide and he was willing to take us to Sosua, which is about a half hour drive from Puerto Plata, where the ships dock.
It was $26 for four of us. We went through the whole thing, with the caretaker, Vincente, pointing us along here and there. The art is unbelievably large; the spaceship theme proof of the founder's fascination with aliens. The views are stunning, especially if you make it to the top (warning, some of the stairs are narrow, uneven and winding).
Took us a little over an hour to see the whole thing. Definitely better than what was offered on the cruise ship excursions.
FYI, no indoor plumbing! There is an independent documentary where you can learn more about it; as of this writing it's streaming on Tubi. If you're in Amber Cove, ask for Francisco Woods in the taxi area; he got us there and back safely.
