点评:While we enjoyed the spectacle of Ascot, we would not visit again. The modus operandi of the organisers of ‘big’ events such as this (I’ve been to several big race days at York , Chester, Newmarket etc), is to cram as many people in as possible. This creates an unsafe and unpleasant situation. We were in the Queen Anne Enclosure and the security staff had a very difficult job in keeping the stairways clear. They kept saying to people to keep moving down to keep the stairs clear, but as it was so busy there was nowhere for people to go as the grassed area was also quite packed. Eventually they appeared to give up. There was an altercation due to overcrowding (someone trying to descend the stairs appeared to trip and bump into someone on also the stairs). This necessitated security intervention which was unpleasant to witness on what was a special event for my sister and myself.
I noticed a comment in the news that a review by an Ascot organiser claimed this year’s meeting as a great success. I assume this was based on the profits they undoubtedly made rather than a poll of racegoers.

我注意到新闻里有一条评论,一位阿斯科特赛马会组织者的评论称今年的赛事非常成功。我认为这是基于他们无疑获得的利润,而不是对赛马观众的民意调查。
