点评:Sunday 4th of May we travelled on board the Shinkansen from this station to Shin-Osaka (new Osaka Station).
This station is absolutely massive and is the second largest station building in Japan and one of the country's biggest buildings.
This 15 storey building is 70 metres high and covers a floor space of 238,000 square metres.
As well as being home to the train station there is also a shopping mall, cinema, department store, hotel and government offices. There are food stalls and coffee shops.
This Kyoto Station (京都駅, Kyōto-eki) was designed by the architect Hiroshi Hara and it opened in 1997 which commemorated 1,200th anniversary of the City of Kyoto.
Hera has said that the thinking behind the design is an attempt to convey historical Kyoto through a modern aesthetic.
While we waited for our train It was a spectacle to see the iconic Shinkansen trains glide in and out of the Station
