Worth a visit for the archway and staircase alone!

点评：We love archeological sites and enjoyed this visit very much. Some reviews here are disappointed by what they found, but it's a very ancient site which has been only slightly restored as sensitively as possible to stop the main walls from falling away. And it's much less busy than Mycenae which attracts a lot of tour buses and can be spoiled by the crowds. A quick review of the history of Tyrins and its relationship with Mycenae before you arrive gives context and background. Access to the upper level is steep via a small archway and a long stone staircase. Incredibly evocative and beautifully preserved. This part alone was worth the visit for us. We would love to have been able to walk around the base of the walls in their entirety at ground level but this is not possible. Information boards are very limited and it would be great to see these improved and extended in all sites in Greece. If only to engage and inform beyond the basics.
