点评：Don't need to pre-book but can make a small saving by booking your tickets online. The site offers free audio which gives around 25 description at various points on the walk around the fort. You need to allow all day we arrived at 10am and spent a good hour just waking around the the fort wall.great views and we were so lucky with the weather. We popped down to the church and saw the ceremonial flags and all the drums of the regiment. Went in to the old accommodation blocks, low ceilings if you are tall like me and a visit to the guard room and gun powder room is a must. We had freshly made sandwiches and home made scones with jam and cream. You can eat inside or out. We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely warm weather. We visited the Scottish military museum she spent a wonderful hour walking around the four floors showing the history, uniforms and medals of all the units and conflicts that they fought in.
The fort is a good day visit with a lot of walking but plenty of easy access to most areas of the fort. It is still an active base with some areas off limits as soldiers go about there duties. I would highly recommend this if in the area. Great value for money at only £10 per person to get in
