点评:This little gem of theater brings some serisously good quality drama to a small Scottish city. I have been to 'There's a place'. Whilst the scene set was fantastic (especially the real scottish rain and fog by the loch) and the ensemble were reasonably good, the piece is an utter disapoinment. I have attended hundreds of plays across Europe, England and Scotland and for the first time not only I was falling asleep but really wished for a swift ending. The rythm of the play is slow with many deaf places; the potential of both the young actors and the topic is criminally underutilised and towards the end you keep asking how anyone can rewrite subject so lovely using a primary school dialogues and plot arches.
Disapointment it truly was when the whole piece could have been spectacular. At least one of the young actresses should tone down her expression and try to attune more to the audience.
Would it not be for Rosie Graham saving the whole performance, I would go home even more regretting my time and money. At least 8 people left at the interval, something I rarely see in Europe.
To sum up, the theatre's is lovely, balconies were closed - why? and many of us ended up with a parking ticket, regardless the fact the parking on Saturdays is from 8am to 6pm. Please get the apletiser at the bar and non-alcoholic gin and I might be back soon.
