On the other hand: we had booked this cruise pre-covid. The company would not refund and insisted on a credit. When we were able to take up the credit, the price had increased by 50%.
Our original and final itinerary covered the cost of all crew, captain and tour guide. Gratuities were not covered. Complimentary coffee and tea were covered a one beverage with lunch. Towels would be changed daily.
On the cruise, the conditions had changed: tea and coffee complimentary only with breakfast or lunch. No beverage included with meal - we had to pay although this was not mentioned up front. Towel changes seemed to be a matter of luck and many fellow travellers did not get towels changed. I asked the 'maid' for new towels three days into the trip and she was happy to change them daily after that.
The crew, Captain and tour guide expected a gratuity in the order of 150 euro per person.
All of the above added significantly to the cost of the trip, it left a very sour taste that what we had paid for was not delivered. The service on the boat was good. The tour leader was fleet of foot for all land excursions and left elderly and injured struggling to keep pace.
The cruise itself was good. The scenery is spectacular. The idea that tourist are to be milked was apparent. The food was good but frequently needed replenishment, customers with dietary requirements were not adequately catered for.
When customers complained about omissions from their final itinerary, they were told the rules had changed (apparently in April 2023 after everyone had paid).
Please be careful to read the print contract that says that the trip is subject to change - I thought it would refer to the changes to the venues visited but it apparently refers to what is covered.
Build in an extra 15% to your budget to cover expected gratuities - apparently paying for the captain, crew, tour leader does not mean that you have paid for the captain, crew and tour leader and the gratuity has nothing to do with 'doing more than one would expect', it is a cost to the customer.
I would never travel with this company again. They ruined my experience of Croatia.
