点评：My wife and I visited the Albin Polasek Museum recently. We had been wanting to visit for some time, but we hadn't made the time. We finally decided to visit and we enjoyed it quite well. If you like art, art history, architecture, visual art, sculpture, or Slavic history it will definitely interest you. There are many other reasons to go like the lovely views of the lake and gardens.
We took the tour of the house and enjoyed it a lot. The tour was about 30 to 40 minutes long. It was very informative and I learned a lot about the background, life, and art of Albin Polasek. Polasek was born in Moravia in what is today Czechia in 1879. He emigrated to the United States at 22 and at 37 headed the sculpture department at the Art Institute of Chicago, a role he masterfully filled for 30 years. Polasek retired at 70 years old in 1950 to Winter Park; his home became the museum. His sculptures and paintings are displayed throughout the house and gardens. They exhibit many artistic styles and are wonderful. They express his love for Slavic roots and for America. Some are Neo-classical in style and others have Art Deco themes.
I highly recommend a visit to the Albín Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens.
