Stunning Cathedral Surrounded by Beautiful Plazas

点评：The Cathedral of Guadalajara is stunning to see and is the central focus of the historic center of the city. The architecture is Spanish Renaissance although the two towers are neo-gothic. The Cathedral was originally completed in 1618 although major reconstruction took place in the 1850s after significant damage from earthquakes causing the collapse of the dome and towers. The cathedral is surrounded by large plaza areas including Plaza de Guadalajara on the west, Plaza de Liberacion on the east and Plaza de Armas to the south. These plazas are all beautiful and quite lively filled with tourists and locals. It's a lovely and vibrant scene especially after dark when the Cathedral is illuminated and it's great to grab a bench or a seat on the fountain to take in the atmosphere. Viewing the interior on the Cathedral is free and made easy as it is open from 8am-7pm and there is no queue.
