点评：We did some research before going to Zermatt and found this was an easy way to get closer to the Matterhorn without hiking. We went with older family members and felt taking the Gornergrat Bahn and viewing from the Gornergrat station was an accessible spot to get a great view. The Gornergrat Station is the highest outdoor train station in Switzerland and you can get great views from all directions. If you have the time, equipment and good shoes this would make for a nice hike from Zermatt.
In addition to the view of the Matterhorn there is also an observatory, glacier, photo spots (including a Grand Tour spot and the Golden Spot Photopoint), an exhibition called Zooom and a restaurant and souvenir shop. We visited on November 1 so the restaurant and souvenir shop were not open.
We would recommend taking one of the first two trains of the day to get here so it isn't too busy at Gornergrat. We spent just over an hour here but would spend more if the restaurant was open. We felt we maximized our time up here and the train that came up around 10:00 was very busy with standing room only so we decided it was time to go back down. There is plenty of shops and cafes in Zermatt so you can grab a drink and snacks to go up with but the shops at Gornergrat are open seasonally.
