点评:On Thursday, September 5, 2024, we visited the Galveston Railroad Museum and spent a couple of hours there. It was rainy, foggy day and the large rolling stock is outside. So we got wet. Part of touring.
While the museum focuses on railroad, and does a pretty good job of it, it has a fantastic section on the USS Texas, BB-35. We had hoped to tour her as well but she is under going rehab so, maybe next time.
A really nice museum. The parking is ample and free. The admission is reasonable and you can enter several of the rolling stock items, as you will see in the video.
I wish the signage was a bit more complete, in particular, on the steam engines. Maybe it was the weather that helped hide it. I looked, I could not, did not find it. And I missed the manufacturer’s boiler plate plaque as well.
There are train ride days, our Thursday was not one of them, check the homepage.
Bring the youngsters, it is child friendly.
If we are in the area again, most likely for the USS Texas, we will most likely stop by again.
Thanks,
Rex
