Musée Saint-Loup的点评
点评：This is a good museum to visit and is better than many of the other local French provincial museums we have visited (some very provincial so maybe not a great comparison). However, if you are limited in time, the other speciality museums in Troyes would be my first suggestion to visit. There is a combined ticket, which we bought here, which included some other Troyes museums so it is worthwhile investigating online and onsite for the best deal. However, none of the tickets are overly expensive.
This museum contains three components: an excellent, if small, Natural History museum (the taxonomy exhibits are really very good), the art gallery contains European paintings from the 14th century to the 19th century and the archeological collection covering from the Neolithic to Merovingian periods which are on display in the cellars of the former abbey (built in the 5th century, destroyed in the 9th century and rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries. The cellars are quite atmospheric. The archeology section has some interesting history of Troyes from the times of the Gallo-Roman Augustobona. There was an interesting display of church floor tiles and medieval sculptures from Troyes churches. It also contains the treasure of Pouan (5th century). There is also a little Egyptian section (complete with mummy) tucked away.
