点评：We came in from Cameron out on the Hopi Indian Reservation via Arizona Highway 64. A much better introduction to the Grand Canyon than coming straight up from Canyon Village. The reason we say that is because the Little Colorado River flows into the canyon from the east and carves out the rocks similarly like a miniature Grand Canyon. It was beautiful country and, in February, two days before it closed due to snow, we were the only car out there. We arrived at the east gate of the South Rim and had a chat with the lonely U.S. Park Service Ranger, he gave us a few tips, and we drove along the road to the Watch Tower. Somewhere along our sojourn from Sedona, I developed the Bubonic Plague (just kidding) and really couldn’t walk much as I’m suspecting it was COVID as I was having difficulty breathing and chest tightness (my wife and I are both nurses so we ruled out a heart attack). It was a great time of year to stay away from people; really cold and barely anybody there. I sat in the sun and looked out the window after a short walk around. So beautiful, lots of foreign travelers. This was my third lifetime trip to the Grand Canyon and it never ceases to amaze. Two days later, there was nine inches of snow. We thought that would have been a fun day and great viewing, but pictures we saw from people who went show that you can’t see a thing. If I was gonna do the Grand Canyon, I would go in the winter on a clear day: FYI, they don’t plow the snow and you would not want to do any hikes as very cold at the top and icy on the trails. The summer seems like it would be a circus like Yellowstone.
