点评：Enjoyable tour of probably the grandest historic home in the Sacramento area that is open to the public. The tour guide informed us that about 75% of the furnishings in the house are original (although it wasn’t entirely clear which were original and which are modern). The public spaces on the second and first floor are very grand and impressive in the late nineteenth century style. It doesn’t seem as though any of the art or furnishings were made by important artists or furniture makers, but it is still a lovely place to tour. It’s free too.
The Stanfords only lived in the finished and enlarged home for 2 years before decamping for San Francisco. As such, it’s a fitting tribute to Sacramento’s brief time as one of California great cities.
