点评：I have had a lifelong interest in Thomas Jefferson, and the tour of Poplar Forest helped to expand my understanding. Jefferson is seen as a real man with foibles and shortcomings but a great mind nonetheless. He was truly an outstanding "Founding Father" but a "human" man of the time as well The building and grounds reflect the best of Jefferson, particularly in his later years. Much, if not most of the building, has been recreated but that doesn't lessen one's understanding. Unfortunately, the original building has changed hands several times and even burned and neglected. Historians have diligently followed the evidence in the restoration. Significantly smaller than Monticello enables one to gain a more in-depth insight. The tour guide had over 40 years of experience. She answered many questions honestly (I have been a tour guide at Monticello). Of course, in today's time, we explore his relationship with slavery which was not good.
