点评:We arrived here for a one-day stop with a cruise group. We started our tour from Piazza Caprera where each day this square hosts a few farmers selling their produce. And of course, right here is the majestic Basilica of Santa Margherita - the town's main church. After that we looked around and found out that the main "street" here is really two parallel streets divided by very tall and skinny buildings. We started by taking Via Cavour (on the left, by Seghezzo grocery) and come back on Via Palestro. Both streets are full of boutiques, shops and cafes.
The most beautiful part of town is beachfront Promenade - the sidewalk is wider that the street, an indication that for more than 100 years this has been the place to promenade under century-old pastel facades. You will see here a statue of Chistopher Columbus and next to it a statue of King Victor Emmanuel II, always ready to brandish his sword and create Italy. And of course, from here you can take a tourist boats to Portofino, the Cinque Terre etc. I didn't like that in such a touristic place there was only one public toilet near the main square, it was paid, dirty, not modern and there was no water to wash your hands. It was a terrible start to our visit. Maybe it takes more time than a one-day visit to fall in love with this small town.
