点评:First of all, the art in this gallery is really amazing, as well as the famous Caravaggio’s there are a range of impressive artworks from Messina’s history. At one time this was a very wealthy city and the gallery contains a range of artworks from the “glory days” of Messina, particularly those recovered from the 1908 earthquake.
The building itself is very modern and well air conditioned, the exhibits are well presented and well cared for and at €8 for entrance it’s pretty good value for money. This is definitely worth a visit if in the area.
It was a slightly odd experience though, the gallery is a decent bit out of town, although easily accessible by a tram which stops directly across from the gallery.
There is very little else in the area and the gallery has no café or gift shop.
It was also incredibly quiet – we visited as a couple on a Saturday and there were two other couples in the whole place. There were definitely more staff than visitors, which lent the place a slightly odd atmosphere.
