点评:We had an excellent time visiting the Reynolda House. When we first entered, the ladies at the front desk greeted us and gave us maps to direct us to the art museum and the other parts of the house. We first decided to explore the art exhibits and were blown away by the collection. The art ranged from beautiful dresses designed by Bob Bugnand to oil paintings by Hans Hoffman. Additionally, the art was organized strategically with four categories: 1. an aesthetic lineage, 2. Heresies and Affronts, 3. Tenor of the Times, and 4. Action and Abstraction. However, that was not all the Reynolda Museum had to offer. After wandering through the art exhibits, we decided to help up the stairs and into the house itself. The first room was a beautiful office area that R.J. Reynolds himself used it as a study. The next room, the library, had a stunning work of art by Frederic Edwin Church and a piano waiting to be played in the corner. As we descended the stairs, we found a ping pong table and played a game or two before discovering the bowling alley, pool table, and diner-like room. We also saw various vogue cover art magazines that dated back to 1880 through 1924 to show fashion from the time of Katherine Smith Reynolds. To finish up the tour, we took a scenic route to see the pool room that was naturally lit. Overall the tour was outstanding, and we will be returning soon!
