点评:We set out about 9.30 am and drove the short distance to Port Royal National Historic Site from our bed and breakfast in Annapolis Royal - it took about 15 minutes. We were the first visitors of the day. As it was such a sunny and warm morning we chose to sit at the red Adirondack chairs overlooking the water. We sat there for an hour and a half, enjoying the scenery, reading our books and having our morning refreshments. (Bring your own as there wasn’t a cafe on site). Eventually we walked round the habitation, a re-creation of a French colonial settlement from the 1670’s. It had been constructed in the 1930’s using tradition techniques. It was fascinating to look in the various rooms, fully equipped with artefacts of the day. As it was out of high season there was no one demonstrating the skills of yesteryear but with the helpful visitors’ guide we still felt that we learned a lot from our time there. Another positive feature of our time at the site was the warmth of the welcome we received at the entrance booth and the impeccable cleanliness of the washrooms by the spacious car park.
