点评：When I visit a new area, whether for leisure or business, I make it a point to explore the town's history, culture, and natural beauty. With only a couple of hours to spare in Old Alexandria, I decided to join the Carlyle House tour. Thanks to an unexpected downpour right before I arrived, I had Ann, the docent, all to myself. She was professional, knowledgeable, and a delightful guide. The tour was absolutely worth the $8.
The Carlyle House, like many historical places, has seen its fair share of changes over the years. However, through meticulous efforts, original crown moldings, doors, floors, and wallpapers have been discovered, preserved, or replicated. I could almost hear the whispers of the colonial era as I wandered through the rooms. The scattered articles and charming setups added to the experience, making it a memorable visit.
