点评:I happened to be passing by, having seen the nearby pier, D-Day memorial, Japanese garden and Canoe Lake Park, so although this museum is hardly a big attraction in Portsmouth, it is a quaint and pleasant, free, educational place for a quiet wander. I mostly visited to see the butterfly house, which was indeed full of butterflies, but at the time I visited, they were all glasswings. Unlike other butterfly houses I've visited, this one was not baking hot and my camera worked fine without steaming up, so I took plenty of decent glasswing photos. Aside from this, the rest of the museum is mostly about UK fauna, birds, a bit about fossils and geology, and a small shop. Surprisingly, I liked this part the most as it offered all sorts of crystals, fossils and rocks that I've rarely seen elsewhere at very reasonable prices. When I visited, this was rather a quiet location with only a few visitors, even on a sunny morning. The garden was very pleasant too, with friendly squirrels.
